Sustainability
Part of our philosophy
As a family company, we think of ourselves as part of a greater whole and, already in our 4th generation, are committed to responsible corporate conduct that are mindful of all areas of society and, in particular, protect and support the prospects of future generations. We believe that this strongly value-oriented, holistic and very responsible way of thinking and acting creates value for future generations. In addition to the strong, emphatic focus on our fellow human beings and on a working environment that supports internal and external growth as well as the social responsibility of our actions, a significant part of our corporate philosophy now also includes the conservation of natural resources and sustainable management with regard to the climate, the environment and therefore our livelihoods.
That's why we are so proud to have been awarded the leading sustainability seal GreenSign. The fantastic level 4 certification is both an award and an incentive at the same time. It is our heartfelt desire to make a contribution towards addressing the major ecological challenges and maintaining sustainable economic activity. We do this as a matter of firm conviction and are delighted to have a professional and renowned partner by our side in GreenSign, with which we can continue to further develop in this essential area. We must act, even if things are not happening where we live or perhaps only happen after we are gone.
In the certification process, seven core areas for sustainable hotel management were examined. These include Management & Communication (SDGs 4/8/10/13/16/17), Environment (SDGs 1 to 4/6 to 9/11 to 17), Regionality & Mobility (SDGs 1 to 5 and 8 to 17), Biodiversity & Cultural Heritage (SDGs 1/4/8/10-17), Procurement (SDGs 1/3/5/8/10/12-17), Quality Management and Sustainable Development (SDGs 4/8), Social Responsibility (SDGs 1 to 5/8/10/16/17) and Economic Responsibility (SDGs 4/8). Below are a few examples of how we intend to contribute:

GreenSign
The GreenSign sustainability certification is awarded by the GreenSign Institute GmbH based in Berlin. It is a certification catalogue recognized by the globally renowned Global Sustainable Tourism Council for determining the level of sustainability of a hotel. The certification is divided into five levels, indicating how many of the certification criteria a hotel meets. To obtain the GreenSign certification, a hotel must first complete the comprehensive requirement catalog, which includes more than 100 criteria divided into eight core areas. In addition to ecological sustainability, social, cultural, and economic aspects are also captured. Each requirement is assigned a corresponding score. Additionally, the establishment of an environmental program, outlining specific development goals, is mandatory. The hotel's information is initially reviewed by GreenSign experts. Subsequently, an on-site audit takes place, during which all information is scrutinized. Upon completion of the assessment, the degree of compliance with GreenSign criteria is determined. Based on this value, the hotel is classified into a sustainability level, ranging from Level 1 (initial sustainable approaches) to Level 5 (highly convincing implementation). The level achieved by a hotel is indicated on the certificate, which is issued for three years. Globally, there are over 800 companies in 17 countries undergoing the GreenSign certification process. (As of February 2024)
