The restaurant FRITZ is named in memory of Fritz Gabler, the founder of the Europaeischer Hof.

Chef Julian Becker offers you classics like a wonderful Wiener Schnitzel with potato-cucumber salad and cranberries or, on Thursdays, the prime boiled beef known all over town with crispy potato rösti and delicious spinach. A healthy salad as an in-between snack or a light pasta dish will also taste superb all year round in this special setting with a view of the garden. Head waiter Antonino Gulotta will take good care of you and provide attentive service.

Immediately after leaving school in Würzburg, Fritz Gabler started his hotel apprenticeship in Rome. After additional stints in France and England, he returned to Germany, where he was soon able to take on management positions in Bad Kissingen and Baden-Baden. In 1906, he purchased the “Hotel de l’Europe” in Heidelberg and, despite the upheaval of the war and the turbulent 1920s and 30s, turned it into Heidelberg’s principal hotel and one of Germany’s leading grand hotels.

Fritz Gabler was the driving force behind the foundation of the Heidelberg Hotel Management School, which now carries his name. In 1936, he was elected President of the ALLIANCE INTERNATIONAL DE L’HOTELLERIE, the worldwide hotel association based in Paris.

Fritz Gabler is the grandfather of Ernst-Friedrich von Kretschmann, who took over the Europäischer Hof Hotel Heidelberg together with his wife Sylvia in 1965, and the great-grandfather of Dr Caroline von Kretschmann, who now manages the hotel in its fourth generation, together with her parents

The tickets for the concerts are only available in the regular advance ticket sales of the Heidelberger Frühling.
